Spike Jonze And Lance Bangs Talk 'Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait Of Maurice Sendak'
With his adaptation of "Where The Wild Things Are" set for DVD release on Tuesday, March 2, Spike Jonze took a night to chat about the intimate documentary about the witty and wise author Maurice Sendak, along with co-director Lance Bangs. "Tell Them Anything You Want: A Portrait of Maurice Sendak" takes you through enchanting, funny, and sometimes sad moments of the "Wild Things" creator's life as he recounts his childhood, the controversy surrounding his recently adapted book, his late partner of fifty years, Eugene Glynn, and his obsession with death. The 40-minute film exposes life as Sendak views it, quirks and all.

Yelawolf talks to MTV’s Mixtape Daily about his classic rock influences.
I just picked up a lot of classic-rock, melodic influence from my mom, music that she listened to, like 10,000 Maniacs, Led Zeppelin, REO Speedwagon and Yes. She was actually dating a dude who was on tour with Aerosmith during the ‘Walk This Way’ tour who brought me back some of my Adidas T-shirts and [a tape of] ‘Paul Revere.’ Beastie Boys, that was my first taste of hip-hop. I equally love both, classic rock and hip-hop. I love all music, really, and I really use classic rock a lot. I’m heavily influenced by that melodically in my music. I can’t really separate the two. Where I’m from is like ‘Hustle & Flow’ versus ‘8 Mile.’ It’s that really grimy, box-Chevy, dope-boy, working-class music.

“All my dreams are coming true all across the board for some reason,” Jay Electronica said via phone from London. Jay — who’s on the other side of the pond headlining shows — just celebrated his daughter Mars’ first birthday (mom is Erykah Badu) and his hometown team the New Orleans Saints just won the Super Bowl. Plus his career is on the upswing; life is good.
Jay’s Just Blaze-produced “Exhibit C” is one of those special hip-hop records that you hear and instantly love. An independent release, it’s garnering heavy rotation on major radio stations like New York’s Hot 97, and in the streets and on the Internet the record has the buzz of a #1 single. Several MCs from Capone-N-Noreaga to Cassidy have freestyled over the track on mixtapes and Diddy, Mos Def, Nas, Q-Tip and Talib Kweli have been publicly co-signing Electronica. The record is definitely his breakthrough. – MTV

“My thing is, what’s the purpose? You said all you had to say. You said you wasn’t gonna say no more until Jay called you. He ain’t call. Everything you said ain’t adding up. It becomes a point, what are you doing it for? Are you doing it to get you a deal? Are you doing it to get you hot, doing it to get you back on the radio? That’s all I wanna know. Anybody knows if you come at Hov, you’re not stopping his movement. C’mon, it’s stupid. We been there before. We seen this movie. I hate to elaborate on it, because it’s like I’m breathing life on a situation that really don’t need no life to it.”
Bleek stopped by 1515 to plug his upcoming album on E1 Music: The Process (due March 23rd,) but mostly he had some words for Beans.
He also mentions that Just Blaze will have 2 records on Process, he had a mutual agreement with Jay about not signing to Roc Nation, and says the footage that recently surfaced of him and Dame Dash exchanging daps is from 2006.

“I’m starting on the next album right now with No I.D., who produced some of my earlier stuff, and Twilight Tone who also produced some of the earlier stuff. I’m working with them and Kanye, and I’m going to go to some boom-bap.”

Cassidy Speaks About His New Mixtape “Apply Pressure 2″ And His Upcoming Album “C.A.S.H.” With MTV
MTV Reports: On Monday, we brought you info from the great Bun B and his journey to tear a hole in every beat he raps on this year. Uncle Bun wants his name next to dozens and dozens of songs this year, whether it’s original material, freestyles or guest spots. Another MC known for knocking the lining out of a beat is Philly’s Cassidy. Cass has been jumping on a slew of instrumentals, from Jay-Z’s “On to the Next One” to Jay Electronica’s “Exhibit C.”
“I wasn’t going to touch it,” Cass told us about getting on Electronica’s instant classic. “I heard so many radio DJs talking about it, and they talking like Jay Electronica was saving hip-hop with that record, so I said, ‘I gotta get up on that joint.’ I’m pretty much jumping on everything that’s hot. I’m saturating the game, really trying to make people suffocate. … I wanted to get the mixtape market in a frenzy, to let them know I’m coming back.”
Cass’ new mixtape, Apply Pressure 2, is tentatively due February 5.

Video: So Far Gone Is MTV’s Mixtape Of The Year
Congratulations.
If Drake is not a household name for everyone just yet, the 23-year-old is on the front porch, ringing the bell. That he’s done it without even putting out an official album shows just how far he’s come in 12 months. What a journey it’s been for the Toronto native in 2009.
I first met Drake last year in Los Angeles around Grammy time. Lil Wayne’s co-manager Cortez Bryant introduced me to Drake as a new “singer” that they were working with. Drizzy was cool but barely spoke: At the time, there was no way I’d envision him as having a shot at making the MTV News’ “Hottest MCs in the Game” list, let alone finishing in the top three. He was a “singer,” right?
Everyone — including Drake — is probably surprised at how much he’s achieved this year. On the basis of its quality and impact, Mixtape Daily can say that So Far Gone isn’t just the top mixtape of 2009, but one of the greatest of all time. As a body of work, the project is better than most albums from the past few years.

Video: Drake Lines Up Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Kanye, And Mystery Guest For Thank Me Later LP

Drake says he is now aiming to release his official debut LP, Thank Me Later, in March. Even with the slight delay, the 23 year old Canadian singer/ rapper is pleased with how it is shaping up.
“I’m making progress on it,” Drake said with a smile Wednesday night at the Grammy nominations concert in Los Angeles, where he’d just learned — to his surprise — that he’s up for two awards. “I’m hoping for March now. It’s just pulling everybody together: I had a wish list for my managers of everybody I wanted involved that stem beyond hip-hop. I’m trying to pull it all together.”
One of the top names on his list is a legendary vocalist who recently announced she’ll be releasing her first new album in almost a decade.
“I’m really trying to work with Sade,” he revealed. “Lil Wayne will be on it. Young Jeezy, Jay-Z, Kanye will be doing work on it. It’s in the family.”
There is one other guest that he elected to be coy about. “It’s this other one I’m excited about that’s kinda left [field],” he demurred. “It’s gonna be a great project — well-round
