Sade Returns With ‘Soldier Of Love’ In 2010

Epic Records announced today that Sade’s long-awaited album, Solders Of Love, is complete and will release on February 8th, 2010. This is the Soul/Jazz group’s first studio album in over nine years.Soldier Of Love can be pre-ordered today through Amazon. This is probably the best news I’ve heard all week.

New Jersey Nets: Where Badness Happens

The Nets take their historically bad show on the road as they face Denver tonight who has yet to lose at home (5-0) this season. The 0-13 start by the Nets is 4 games off the NBA record for the worst start in league history. The Heat were in their inaugural season (1988) when they went 0-17 and the Clippers were still the Clippers when they did it in 1998-99, but for a franchise that once featured Croatian sharpshooter Drazen Petrovicit’s unthinkable.
The Nets might be harnessing energy from the memorable 1976-77 team. That Nets team finished an NBA worst 22-60, but set an NBA record of their own along the way. In February that year they became the first NBA team to sport an all-left-handed starting lineup led by none other than Bubbles Hawkins (watch him take on Pistol Pete in H-O-R-S-E). Maybe the start has been an homage to the All-Lefts?

Usain Bolt Adopts Baby Cheetah

Now that the New York City Marathon has ended we can all go back to doing what we do normally: obsess over Usain Bolt. The Lightning has been taking a break from JA to hang out in Kenya for a few days, where he has “already impressed local children with his football skills, and become an honorary Maasai warrior,” according to the BBC, further proving he is our second most admired jedi knight/sensai/dream date slightly after Barack Obama. But Bolt’s moved up like 18 notches on our list after his recent adoption of A. Baby. Cheetah… as part of a conservation effort focusing on sustaining the environment in Africa via the Long Run, a new campaign he is launching. Appropriately, he christened the cheetah “Lightning Bolt,” and we immediately began singing the Vybz Kartel verse “BOLT / LIGHTNING BOLT,” weirding out our coworkers for the 49th time today. Watch a dubiously edited YouTube of Bolt “beating” a less adorable cheetah in a race.

Toronto’s official Christmas tree will be lit at 7pm this Saturday, followed by fireworks, live musical performances and of course a skating party on the iconic rink at Nathan Phillips Square. There will also be a Fair Trade Market featuring crafts, clothing, accessories and Christmas decorations from around the world.

Day26 Leaves Diddy’s Bad Boy Records For Atlantic

After becoming stars via Diddy's reality TV series "Making The Band," Day26's run at Bad Boy Recordshas come to an end.

The group has left the label, according to a report from TheBoomBox.com, but say they are still a part of Diddy's extended family.

"Bad Boy is always our family, but we're with Atlantic right now," member Willie Taylor told the site.

Although they became stars on reality television, Day26 are now determined to prove that they have what it takes to make it on pure talent, rather than TV ratings.

"We really want to get people focused on the artistry, on the music," Taylor explained. "I think a lot of people lost it with the entertainment of the show. So now, we really want to show people what we're all about, that we do our thing whether its on stage, in the studio, writing and producing -- we do it all."

Day26 are currently in the studio working on their third group album.

Diddy had previously locked down a distribution deal with Atlantic Records for Bad Boy, but just months ago, he opted to sign with Interscope Records where he'll be releasing his next album, Last Train to Paris, with his new group Dirty Money comprised of himself, former Danity Kane member Dawn Richard and newcomer Kaleena.

”Twilight” Themed Heroin Baggies Seized On Long Island

TMZ: Here's the kind of "Twilight" merchandise you really don't want your kids getting their hands on -- baggies of heroin with a cartoon of Rob Pattinson's face printed on them.

DEA Special Agent Erin McKenzie-Mulvey tells us the heroin baggies with "Twilight" characters were seized recently in West Hempstead, Long Island. The "Twilight"-themed baggies have been gaining popularity over the last couple of months.

New York Special Agent in Charge John Gilbride tells TMZ a dime bag of heroin in New York is cheaper than a six pack of beer.

Bear Attack Leaves Man Seriously Wounded After He Falls Into Bear Enclosure In Switzerland

DailyMailCoUK: A bear clamped a man in his jaws after he climbed into the enclosure at a Swiss zoo.
The mentally handicapped man was left seriously wounded - but astonishingly managed to escape with his life.

The 25-year-old climbed on to a wall surrounding the Bären Park (Bear Park) in the city of Bern, Switzerland, before falling 13ft into the enclosure, police said.

The unnamed man was then attacked by four-year-old bear Finn, who caused severe injuries to the his head and one of his legs, before a policeman shot the creature, injuring it and forcing it to retreat into a cave.
The other bear in the large enclosure, Finn's 10-year-old sister Bjoerk, was not involved in the attack.

Both the man and Finn are currently being treated for their respective injuries.
The Bear Park was opened on October 25th, and provides both Finn and Bjoerk with hill slopes, grasslands, a cave and access to the nearby Aare River.
However, after the death of 28-year-old Pedro, the last remaining bear from the pits, in May, it was decided the new bears should be given somewhere more habitable in which to live.

Bern city councillor Barbara Hayoz, whose local nickname is the 'bear mother' thanks to her enthusiasm for the Bear Park project, said shortly after announcing plans for the new enclosure: 'They will be able to live like real bears - in the middle of the city.'
